Men's circles and events in Berlin that foster conscious and positive masculinity.

What it means to be a man is changing, but to what?

My mission with this newsletter is to inspire men to find a way of being themselves that feels authentic.

The main way to achieve this is to supply you with events based in Berlin that allow sharing and getting in touch with yourself.

Men’s Circles and events

If you haven’t tried a men’s circle yet, I wholeheartedly recommend it. You don’t need to prepare anything. You just show up and talk about what’s going on in your life at the moment. In my experience there’s always a few things that I’m mulling over in my head and getting others to listen feels good. If you don’t want to talk, you just listen to the others. One of the main wins I got from participating in men’s circles is that some of my worries and insecurites were normalised because I heard that others have very similar things. Another is that I made new friends who I know I can talk to about the things that really matter to me in life.

Why only men? Because it allows for greater authenticity and vulnerability. Mixed groups might leave male participants emotionally on the defensive. They will tend to engage in false masculinity postering which is the trained behaviours learned from society about how men should behave. Doing the work in a male-only environment makes it easier to leave behind these patterns behind and thus, allows for greater transformation.

Who am I?

My name is Peter and I’ve been running men's circles for over four years now as an organiser of the Berlin Men's Group. In 2023, I obtained a diploma in Men's Work as part of a training organized by the Bundesforum Männer in Germany in collaboration with maenner.ch from Switzerland.

I believe in gender equality. My goal with this newsletter is not to undermine women or any other gender. I simply want to give men a space to reflect about what it means to be a man in a world where gender norms are changing rapidly. And to try out what it feels to leave behind some of the stereotypically male behaviours that a lot of us absorbed while growing up. I want to counter the trend in society that seems to leave many men isolated and lonely, which in turn seems to lead to radicalisation in a lot of cases, looking at voting trends in Western countries.
