📖 Article of the Week
This article talks about how to think about the decision of whether to marry someone or not. It might not be valuable to everyone at their current point in life, but to those who are in this position, it offers some mental models and a framework on how to think about the decision:
The Marriage Decision: Everything Forever or Nothing Ever Again
🏔️ Introduction of Path Forge
A new NGO to foster positive masculinity through research and training.
Being a man in the modern world can be confusing. The rules keep changing, we get lots of conflicting messages, and it's easy to feel stuck wondering where to fit in. It doesn't help that there always seems someone ready to criticise us for something in the name of tearing down the old power structures. It would be nice if all this tearing down of the old would go with building something new – and something that works for men, too.
Some people out there offer quick answers, clear roles, and a ready‑made brotherhood – just wrapped in the same old ‘real man’ alpha talk. It’s tempting, but it drags everyone backwards. If we want a future that actually works for all of us, we’ve got to work out something better. Something that allows us to grow, find purpose, and feel connected.
Therefore Simon, one of the members of the Berlin Men’s Group, has just started a new NGO to do exactly that – work out better ways. PathForge will be a think-tank doing policy-relevant research and outreach initiatives to promote positive and virtuous masculinities that work for men – and for everybody.
How you can get involved
Simon will be organising a series of events focused on thinking through the social and personal issues facing men these days, and what we can do about them. See above for the first event.
Simon is also looking for people who can help with running the NGO. At this point, there are three main roles to fill:
Marketing Wizard – if you're good with social media and running promo campaigns, you have the magical skills Simon needs the most. Get in touch!
Funding Ninja – if you know how to apply for grants, find sponsors, or convince businesses to donate, you'd be a godsend!
Media Guru – if you can edit videos and podcasts, make kickass thumbnails and graphics, or rock at web design, write now!
If you feel called, you can reach Simon via contact@path-forge.org.
